Special guest speaker is Vajin Armstrong who will just have returned from representing New Zealand in the 2011 Commonwealth Ultra Trail Running Championships. Vajin is also winner of the 2010 Kepler Challenge and 2010 Motutapu Marathon.  An open and experienced speaker, Vajin shares a wealth of information on how to approach the world of Ultra-Running.

With the right training, right attitude and  determination,  Ultra-distances are  achievable. Training for and running these events offers huge personal benefits in terms of a sense of achievement, and the cultivation of one's inner and outer capacities.

Anything longer than a marathon is considered an ultra race.  While for many of us the marathon is more than long enough, Ultra-running is a growing field with runners from all different ages, strengths and capacities.

It is not for the faint hearted, but not just  for an elite few.  Many people try it and find they have much more capacity than they thought. Just as sprints and the 10k are worlds apart, average middle distance runners can find surprising capacities for the ultra distances.

This session is for anyone who is inspired to try, or just to learn more about Ultra-Running.
