7 Nov.04: Mail Worker Delivers First Place

Wellington based postal delivery officer and full-time student Tim Cranfield delivered his best 10k time of the year recently, claiming first place with ease in the Self-Transcendence 10k Race in the scenic Auckland Domain.

Held on a course inaugurated by Sri Chinmoy on a visit to New Zealand in 1987, daylight was second as the pacy postman left all in his wake, crossing the line with a time 38.04, some distance from his personal best of 36.27.

Although a slow time by his own standards, Tim, 29, pronounced himself satisfied with the victory, saying it was a good beginning to the summer of racing ahead of him.

Second in the race was Jade Lynn of Hamilton in 38.55, followed by Hayden Bell in 39.40.
