Congratulations to everyone who took part in our last race of 2017 - the Self-Transcendence Christmas Dash! It was another bright and sunny day in Christchurch, so the mostly tree-shaded course was very welcome even in the morning.

It's a busy time of year for Santa, but he loves us down here in Christchurch so much that he took time off to pay us a special visit - and to run in the kids 3.2km (2-mile) race! As it turns out Santa is really quite a speedy guy, but he didn't quite take the win in the kids race, which went to Mitchell Kane (12) in a fantastic time of 13.04. Santa chased him in with a 13.19 (his excuse for not winning was that the suit was too hot - we think he just couldn't keep up). Liam Wilson (12) took out second place in 14.23 and Aaron Clark (11) came third in 14.57. In the girl's 3.2km Lily Pringle (13) had a clear victory in 13.47, with Lucy Haller (11) taking the silver in 14.15 and Nicole Ridd (8) making an excellent effort for the bronze among older girls in 16.02.

The men's 10km was won by Arnas Gabrenas, going well under the 40 minute mark with 38.44, followed by Dave Cox in 39.13 and Sean Barnes in 40.01. In the women's event ultramarathoner Shannon-Leigh Litt proved her speed at shorter distances with 45.27, with veteran runner Tessa Holland clipping out a fast 46.45 for second and Denise Ceska taking out third in 46.59.

We hope everyone had a wonderful time at our events this year, and we look forward to seeing you again in 2018!
