Runner-up in both the 2004 and 2005 Christchurch Marathons, Seaton Meredith went one better last Sunday to win the Self-Transcendence 100 Km Road Race held on a 2.5 km loop within the picturesque Hagley Park North.
In warm, sunny conditions the 36 year old Aucklander battled the heat by throwing cups of cold water over his head in the latter stages and finished strongly to record an excellent time of 8:03:34. Wellingtonian Paul Hewitson was second in 9:47:57 followed by Willie Adams (Christchurch) 10:28:37.
Jaron Tabak (Christchurch) won the Self-Transcendence 50 km race in 3:45:47 from Luke Campbell (Christchurch), 3:51:32 closely followed by Wellington's Tim Cranfield 3:52:01.
61 year old Niribili File (Auckland) won the women's 50 km event in 5:49:19 from Sophie Anderson (Dunedin) 6:07:01 and Shona Kelly (Christchurch) 6:15:10.
Richard Seigne won the Self-Transcendence 10 Km Race in 35:59 from Peter Dickson (38:45). Jennifer Griswold won the Womens 10 km in 43:27 from Gail Ingram (44:43).
