Keith Burrows, 7.43.17 (Owairaka Athletics, Auckland) and Jamie Stevenson, 10.11.29 (North Harbour Bays, Auckland) won the Sri Chinmoy 100 km Road Races at Hagley Park North, Christchuch on Sunday 23 May 2021 ... to become the 2021 Athletic New Zealand 100 km national champions.
The 50 km & 100 km races were held in cool, calm blue-sky conditions (1-14C) ... enchanting late autumn colours adorned the evergreen park.
Ben Taylor, 8.41.46 (North Canterbury Athletics) was the men's runner-up, folowed by James Inwood, 9.33.40 (Athletics Masterton), who eased past Wayne Botha, 9.42.35 (Takapuna Harriers) in the latter stages of the race
In the Sri Chinmoy 100 km 4-person Team's Race the 'Weekend Warriors' team (7.04.22) ovetook a strong'Lapping Ladies' team (7.15.03) near the finish to snatch a fine victory. Third placed IR-One team (7.50.52) finished just ahead 4th placed IR- A team (7.51.35).
The Sri Chinmoy 50 km men's Race was won by David Grimes, 3.58.32 (Christchurch), closely followed by Ryan Wood, 4.00.30 (Christchurch).
Multi age-group world record breaker Val Muskett 5.10.47 (Hampden, Otago) won the women's 50 km Race ahead of New Zealand super vet and 24-hour age group, national record holder Shirley Rolston, 6.54.05 (Port Hills Athletic).
At the 7.00 pm awards ceremony John Bowden (Athletics New Zealand) presented the championship medals ... followed by a post-race meal under tranquil Hagley Park evening skies.
