A total of 45 runners finished the Sri Chinmoy Cross Country Race at Curletts Reserve in the Canterbury Agricultural Park on the weekend, 29 in the 8km Race and 16 in the Children’s 2.5km Race.

Pouring rain, hail and freezing temperatures set in before the race but the warrior runners were not deterred, infact the inclement weather conditions proved to be a source of great joy for the competitors out on the course.

"It was the best conditions possible for a cross country race, lots of rain and lots of mud and I loved it" commented Pushpendra Uppal (on holiday from Melbourne).

"I felt like a kid, it was great fun!" exclaimed Emily Oliver at crossing the finish line for the 8km Race.

Congratulations to all the brave runners!

We hope see you at the next Christchurch Sri Chinmoy Race at Sumner Esplanade on July 18th.
