EVENT DETAILS

Event Setting - Course Layout:

(1) Auckland Domain loop 1.507 km
(2) War Memoral Park loop 2.200 km

  • Beautiful, peaceful parkland settings - runners and walkers at all levels of fitness are welcome.
  • Fast, safe and certified accurate 'Jones-wheel-calibrated' courses:
  • Distance markers every kilometre. 
  • Marshalls & helpers spread around the circuits ... lead cyclist to show you the way.
  • Aid station with water & Replace electrolyte drinks available every 1.5/ 2.2 km.
  • Lap counters provided for War Memorial Park Half-Marathon & 16.1k(10-mile) participants & for Auckland Domain Half-Marathon & 10.55k participants.
  • **Strict 2 Hour 30 Minutes Time Limit** for half-marathon/ 16.1k(10-Mile) events (suit runners/ race-walkers only).

Car Parking - Bib Number Pick-Up - Gear Storage:

(1) Auckland Domain: There is plenty of free car parking in the  Auckland Domain and adjacent streets - enter via Carlton Gore Road.

  • The registration tent & start/ finish area are alongside the Auckland Domain cricket pavilion.
  • Bib number pick up & entries on the day are from 7.00 am until 7.40 am for all events.
  • Secure clothing/ gear storage is available at the registration tent.

(2) War Memorial Park: There is abundant free car parking at the Lovelock Track end of the park - enter off 740 Sandringham Road Extension, Mt Roskill.

  • The registration tent & start/ finish area are located on the Lovelock Track.
  • Bib number pick up & entries on the day are from 7.00 am until 7.40 am for all events.
  • Secure clothing/ gear storage is available at the registration tent.

All finishers will receive:

  • Finisher certificates with accurate times.
  • Random spot prizes.
  • Free, nutritious, yummy, post-race food and drinks.

Awards:

  • Half-Marathon/ 16.1k Races: Trophies for 1st placed open men/ women, medals for 2nd & 3rd places plus, medals for 1st placed men/ women 50-59, 60-69 & 70+.
  • 10.55k/ 10k Races: Trophies for 1st placed open men/ women, medals for 2nd & 3rd places & 1st placed men/ women 50+.
  • 4.5k/ 5.6k Races: Medals for 1st, 2nd & 3rd placed open men/ women.
  • 1.5/ 2.5k Races: Medals for 1st placed Boy/ Girl (Under 13).

Entries on the Day:

Childrens 1.5k/ 2.5 km Races

  • The Sri Chinmoy 1.5k/ 2.5 km run/ walks are to foster children's participation and fitness ... and are open to children under 13 years ... at all levels. 
  • Auckland Domain races start/ finish by the Auckland Domain cricket pavilion ... start time is 7.45 am.
  • War Memorial Park/ Mt Roskill races start/ finish on the Lovelock Track - off 740 Sandringham Road Extension ... start time is 7.45 am.
  • Each course is one lap of an accurately calibrated 1.5k/ 2.5k circuit ... see respective map.
  • All participants to receive finisher certificates with accurate times, plus yummy, post race food and drinks.
  • A lead cyclist will show the way and safety marshals will be located around the course.
  • Parents, please ensure that you read the health and safety instructions.
  • Online Entries: Online Entry Fee $12.00 ... see above.
  • Entries on the Day are also available between 7.00 am - 7.40 am Sunday mornings.
  • A parent must be present to sign the entry form.
  • Entry fee on the day is $15.00.

Runners/ walkers please ensure you read this Health & Safety Check list:

Fit Enough to Complete Event:

  • Runners and walkers should be quite certain that they are fit enough and sufficiently well trained to complete these events. If you are unsure about your general health or fitness consult your family doctor before embarking on a training program. There are many running/ walking training programs available on the net ... contact us if you need any assistance.

Age Limits for Children & Young Adult Entries:

  • Whilst we encourage children and young adults to play sports and to be fit and active, research indicates that excessive participation in endurance sports by growing children and adolescents can lead to cumulative trauma of the muscles, joints and major vital organs. Therefore, we require 5 km entrants to be 10 years old, 10 km entrants to be 13 years and 21.1 km entrants to be 16 years of age. 

Adequate Clothing:

  • All participants are advised to bring adequate clothing and protection for changes in weather, rain gear, polyprop clothing, gloves, sun hats, sunglasses, sunscreen etc. Supervision of Children: Children not participating are welcome providing they are supervised at all times by an adult.

Pre Race Safety Briefing:

  • There will be a safety briefing for runners and walkers at the start line.

Course Safety/ No Road Closures

(1) Auckland Domain:

  • There are no road closures at the Auckland Domain & normal road rules apply for these events. Runners and walkers should remain vigilant, obey normal pedestrian road rules and expect traffic at all times.
  • Auckland Domain roadways are usually very quiet on Sunday mornings. However, runners and walkers should constantly be on alert and follow all directives from the traffic safety marshals.
  • Runners and walkers must follow the indicated channeling of the cones where necessary.
  • Walkers should walk no more than two abreast and keep single file/ to the left on narrower sections of the course to allow runners to pass safely.

(2) Mt Roskill/ War Memorial Park:

  • There are no road closures at War Memorial Park for this event ... however runners and walkers should remain vigilant, obey normal pedestrian rules and respect other park users at all times.
  • War Memorial pathways ways are usually very quiet on Sunday mornings. However, runners and walkers should constantly be on alert and follow all directives from the course safety marshals.
  • Runners and walkers must follow the indicated channeling of the cones where necessary.
  • Walkers should walk no more than two abreast and keep single file/ to the left on narrower sections of the course to allow runners to pass safely.

Stay Hydrated During Event:

  • Runners and walkers should ensure that they keep hydrated during the event. Cups of water and electrolytes drinks will be handed out every 2.5 km adjacent to the registration/ finish area.

First Aid/ Emergencies:

  • A first aid kit will be located in the information/ registration tent. Participants should report any incidents or distressed persons to the nearest safety marshal. Safety marshals will direct participants to the information/ finish area for minor medical emergencies and report any distressed participants, incidents or emergencies to the chief safety officer or the race director.

Withdrawal of Exhausted or Distressed Participants:

  • If any participant becomes distressed or exhausted- the chief safety officer or race director shall withdraw that person from the event.

CANCELLATION OPTIONS

Should any Sri Chinmoy Auckland Series event be cancelled:

(1) Participants who entered only the individual cancelled event can:

  • Request an entry fee refund for the cancelled event. (Entry fee less ‘Register Now’ handling fee).

OR

  • Do nothing and receive an automatic transfer to a future Auckland Series event (date can be selected latter).

(2) Participants who entered multiple series events can:

  • Request an entry fee refund for the individual cancelled event. (Pro-rata discounted entry fee less ‘Register Now’ handling fee)

OR

  • Do nothing and receive an automatic transfer to a future Auckland Series event (date can be selected latter).

    Sri Chinmoy 10-Mile Classic (16.1k), 10k, 5.6k & Kid's 2.5k ... War Memorial Park, Mt Roskill

    A cloudy, warm mid-summers day greeted runners and walkers, for race 1 of the Sri Chinmoy Auckland Series 2024 ... held at Lovelock Track, War Memorial Park, Mt Roskill on Sunday 28 January 2024.

    Ketina Chivasa (1.16.59) was the outright winner of the Sri Chinmoy 10-Mile Classic (16.1k) ... followed by Lisa Harris (1.24.48) and Suzie Clarke (1.34.12).

    Shaun Cooper (1.18.42) won the men's 10-Miler ... from Simon Kozak (1.24.22) and Robin Broeren (1.26.39).

    In the Sri Chinmoy 10 km Race, Daniel Playne (38.10) closed strongly for a fine victory ... followed by Aron Thompson (38.48) and Mark Andrew (42.26).

    Anne-Marie Mujica (55.49) won the women's 10 km race, from Melissa Allan (59.05) and Liz Hardley (1.00.25).

    Zachery Swain (23.57) was first in the Sri Chinmoy 5.6 km Race, followed by brothers Alexander Rawles (26.29) and Christopher Rawles (31.14).

    Ayawa Sotome (25.44) won the women's 5.6 km, from Shwetha Shankar (34.31) and Annie Dong (34.57).

    Maelee Sotome (11.54) was first in the Sri Chinmoy 2.5 km Children's Race, closely followed by Anna Dong (11.56) and Sophie Chen (15.36).

    Aiden Chen (15.11) won the 2.5 km boy's race.
